Shop On-Line at Any Time!
Hello this week from Quilt Shop Co-op. We have lots of news and classes.
Community Sewing Days!
First, sign up for Community Sewing Days. Offered on Wednesdays on October 20th, November 17th and December 8th for $10 (See specific times below in calendar). You can have the assistance of our own Jennie Baltutis or Laurie Bushbaum.
Bring your machine and your sewing projects, or start a new one. Gather with friends and meet some new folks. We put on the coffee and tea! For only $10 for the day, you get a large work table, extra quilting tools if needed, a fridge / microwave for your lunch and a staff member who can offer advice and experience. And of course, if you need extra fabric, we have plenty of that in the shop. We can also help you carry your machine upstairs.
Quilt Shop Coop Garage Sale - October 28, 29 & 30th
Help us celebrate our FIRST ANNIVERSARY by shopping our garage sale. Members and friends have donated gorgeous fabrics and sewing supplies.
Maybe you know someone who wants to try quilting but is on a tight budget? Bring them over and help them get started building their stash. Or build your own.
Here are a few photos of donated items (and there is so much more!)
New Classes! And if you missed the Pieced Jacket Class you have another chance.
Want a cozy jacket that no one else has? Join this class to make one. The Tremont Jacket from The Sewing Workshop is easy to sew. The pattern and a variety of fabrics are available at Quilt Shop Co-op.
The class is two sessions; you should plan to attend both classes on Nov 3 and 10.
The class fee is $60. Pattern ($22.95) and fabric (3.33 yards) are purchased separately.
Basic clothing construction experience is recommended.
Machine Quilting Class with Twila Richter - Nov 4th
Learn one of the last steps in finishing your quilting project: free motion quilting. The sky is the limit in the texture and visual interest you can create. The instructor will supply each participant with a quilt “sandwich” on which to practice.
Below is Twila with one of her award winning quilts. The class is one session on Nov. 4 and we suggest bringing a bag lunch.
Machine Binding Class - Nov 13th
Learn, refresh or refine your machine binding skills. Learn and document each of the steps so that you never forget. Twila will be supplying a fabric kit for each participant to take you through the 11 steps. At the end of the class you will have a “story board” to bring home as a reference in finishing your quilts in the future. The photo shows what your "story board" will look like and Twila is featured with her "Binding Story Board"

Toes In The Sand BOM Club
Tula Pink + Jaybird Quilts
Toes in the Sand is a pattern by Jaybird Quilts that was released in 2012. It has been reinvented using Tula Pink's Daydreamer fabrics to be released in November, 2021. The Block of the Month starts in January 2022 and runs for 12 months. It uses the Hex N More ruler from Jaybird Quilts. We will stock this ruler this fall. Pre-register now to save your spot.
Go Green and bring your own bag!
The City of Minneapolis is now requiring retail shops to charge 5 cents for each bag they give out. This starts on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Many of you bring your own bag already, so you are in good shape. Thanks for keeping our environment clean and healthy.
