*** Landscape Quilting Class April 10 and 17 from 10 am to noon.
|
You can still learn how to create a one-of-a-kind quilt. Instructor, Laurie Bushbaum, will teach how a landscape quilt is created, from the background to the foreground, adding distance and rich detail. You will receive suggestions on decorative stitching and finishing your quilt.
Laurie is a Quilt Shop Co-op member, Minneapolis resident, and quilter who has taught quilting and fiber arts for many years and in many settings. She would love to have you join her in this class!
Check out Laurie's Facebook Live presentation on the class.

*** Earth Day

April 22
You may ask, "Wait. WHAT? How does Earth Day pertain to fabric and quilting?"
Answer: Earth Day pertains to everything! Quilt Shop Co-op wants to help draw attention to the continued need for all of us to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We are planning a few simple activities, and have some ideas for how to involve the neighbors of 3400 Bloomington in them. We'd like to involve YOU too!
We could use a few volunteers to connect with other businesses near Bloomington and 34th, deliver information to residences on the block, and oversee a table of co-op giveaways. And you may have other good ideas for ways to promote, enhance, and support this event.
To volunteer, please contact Maggie at mwirthjohnson@gmail.com
*** State of the Co-op: Two Years Later |
Considering that the store began in the middle of a pandemic, and is alive and growing seven months later, we are cautiously optimistic. Sales are below target, (Hint: Please shop ! ) but things seem to have turned a corner. Spring has come, the pandemic seems to be ebbing somewhat, and more people are visiting the store to shop.
Funds are still tight-- too tight to hire staff yet. That's why we are grateful to the volunteers who are working in the store. We'd like to thank our most recent store volunteer, Reagan Mock-Nelson, who has joined Jennie, Laurie, and Mary Ann in shopkeeping.
We need volunteers in other ways.
To date, the work of running Quilt Shop Co-op has fallen primarily to the Board of Directors. It's a lot of work for a small number of people. Yet, this co-op belongs to all of its members.
Can you help out?
We are looking for individuals who have experience with:
- social media (Facebook, Instagram, Next Door) to promote a business or organization
- community outreach
- marketing
- financial / accounting work
If you can help in any of these ways, please contact Maggie at mwirthjohnson@gmail.com. Your co-op needs YOU.
Wishing everyone a lovely week!
Your Friends at Quilt Shop Co-op
